On Friday June 26th I lost a colleague. It happened quickly, unexpected, just like the late afternoon thunderstorm that also passed that day.

Lightning strikes

The world flashes

Horizons blur

Thunder roars

Ears ring

Rattle your core

No other sound matters

Try to make sense

Slams you into a wall

Heavens churn

As tears fall

Roads flood

Unable to travel

Angels burn

Reflections in

Another storm passes

Leaves us empty

With saturated minds

The garden bleeds

Only you can see

As the puddles evaporate

Back to Heaven they carry

Memories as beautiful

As flowers are remembered

For us to grow
